Steven Vannoy, PhD, is a senior fellow at the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He has extensive experience in researching the use of meditative techniques on the psyche, and has worked on developing secular curriculums that use Buddhist thought and meditation as methods to evoke positive and healthy mental experiences. He has a particular interest in the process of death and dying, and is also a longtime Buddhist practitioner and student.
Yangsi Rinpoche, Geshe Lharampa, is a Tibetan Buddhist scholar and teacher, and President and Founder of Maitripa Institute in Portland. Rinpoche is considered one of the top scholars of his generation, and is particularly well-versed in the aspects of Buddhist philosophy that present the process and stages of death. Rinpoche has hundreds of students throughout the world, and is admired wherever he travels for his interest in and enthusiasm for Western culture, and his evident embodiment of the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist path.
