THE THREE TARAS: This retreat will focus on identifying, recognizing, and embodying the enlightened qualities of the Three Taras within ourselves, and all those around us.

GREEN TARA is the swift and loving manifestation of enlightened female energy, whose activities are focused on the quick resolution of suffering, unhappiness, and obstacles for the benefit of all beings.

RED TARA is a powerful manifestation of the deity, whose qualities include intense magnification of goodness and good works all around her.

WHITE TARA is a peaceful deity, well-loved for her ability to increase and extend long-life and help us overcome illness and physical and mental hindrances to our ultimate happiness.

This annual retreat is led by YANGSI RINPOCHE, founder and President of Maitripa College, who clears space in his busy schedule each summer to spend ten days in intense practice and retreat with students of all backgrounds and experience levels.

This year our retreat practice will focus on the commentary and practice of the Three Taras – White, Red, and Green Tara – the female manifestations of enlightened energy.

Empowerment for the Three Taras practice will be given by Rinpoche at the start of the retreat; no pre-requisites apply – these practices are equally suitable for all levels of practitioners.

In addition to the empowerment, the retreat will include explanation and practice of the sadhanas, mantra recitation, commentary and teaching by Rinpoche, and much more.

Between daily sessions, retreats with Rinpoche offer the opportunity to spend time in the most precious company. Past retreats have included the following unique and joyful moments: a nature walk to a secluded waterfall to perform the Chod offering practice; a lighthearted archery competition – a traditional “dakini” activity – on the front lawn of our retreat site; animal liberation of thousands of worms into the wild; walking meditation; training in traditional Tibetan chanting and musical instruments; and much, much more!
