Portland is a medium-sized city in the Pacific Northwest with a long history of natural conservation that can be seen not only throughout the abundance of natural reserves and parks, but in its beautifully preserved neighborhoods, each with its own unique style. It also offers all the conveniences of a sophisticated urban environment. Portland is also graced with an excellent public transportation system, making life in the city easily sustainable without a car. In many neighborhoods one will find unique stores, small restaurants, and cafes along the main avenues, while the adjacent streets remain residential, enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Downtown Portland is active, clean and modern and hosts a diversity of city living, offices, commerce, restaurants, and many attractions.

PORTLAND WEATHER
It rains! So come ready for this. Despite the rain, it is amazing to see how Portlanders to enjoy the outdoors, where everyone seems to find time to jog, walk, or cycle. Apart from the rain, Portland has mild winters and summers, with the winter and spring producing the most rain and just an occasional snow day. Summers are sunny and mild.
HOUSING IN THE PORTLAND AREA
Portland is truly a unique city, loved not only for its physical beauty, neighborhood feeling, and natural splendor, but for its friendly people, cultural diversity, and innovative spirit. Maitripa is honored to begin this program here and hopes to make a special contribution to our local community in a spirit of loving kindness and service.
There are many residential areas with a great variety of rental and real estate properties to choose from. There are many available properties for rent and also many price ranges from which to choose. The most expensive areas are downtown and the most affordable in the city outskirts. The Maitripa building is located close-in, in the Southeast quadrant of the city, on 11th near Hawthorne. There are excellent residential areas within walking distance or within easy access to public transportation.
